Davis Richmond Literacy - January 30, 2014
The second Davis Richmond Engagement meeting focused on Literacy (reading). Principal Liechty (Davis Primary) and Principal Ascharya (Richmond Intermediate) began by sharing literacy data to identify the subgroups and areas of need. The presentation also walked through the instructional planning process, which is guided by individual, classroom and grade level data, and focused in on three different student scenarios and what their instructional programs would look like in response to their needs. Finally, Dr. Lizanne DeStefano, Ph.D., NCSP, University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, reviewed literacy best practice and what successful schools are doing to increase academic achievement for their subgroups as well as for all students.
